 Principal Clinical Psychologist and Managing Director 

Dr Gary K. Banks
PhD(Med)[UNSW], MClin Psych [UWA], MBA [Macq U], BA,BPsych [UWA], MAPS.

Gary is a Clinical Psychologist registered and has been in practice for more than 20 years across the states of New South Wales (Registration No. PS0002139), Queensland (Registration No. 990664) and Western Australia (Registration No. 751). He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and College of Forensic Psychologists.

Gary holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in Psychology and Clinical Psychology and a Fellowship in Medical Hypnosis. His Master of Clinical Psychology degree also included extended training in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Neurosciences Institute in West Perth. He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the Faculty of Medicine, UNSW which also included completion of the neuroanatomy course for neuropsychologists.
He is currently Adjunct Lecturer in Clinical and Forensic Psychology in the doctoral program at the Univeristy of New England. In addition to a number of other clinical positions, he is a member of the Australian Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Australian Institute of Health Law and Ethics. He provides graduate and post-graduate clinical supervision for a number of universities around Australia.

His interests include forensic assessments and evaluations of individuals before the Courts for clinical and neuropsychological purposes. These include criminal, personal injury, insurance, child protection and and custody matters. He is an approved provider for the Crown Solicitor, Director of Public Prosecutions, Legal Aid, Public Trustee and most insurance companies.

He has been appointed to the NSW Children's Court as an Authorised Clinician and is listed by the Family Court of Australia as an approved clinician for the preparation of Family Reports (also referred to as 's30A reports', and as a Family Court Mediator.

He is the founder of the Sydney Counselling Centre – an organisation he established to provide high quality psychological therapy and assessment services by well trained, experienced and credentialed professionals.

Sonia Gallart
MClin Psych, MA [USyd], BA [UNSW], MAPS

Sonia is a registered Clinical Psychologist (NSW Registration No. PS0028142) a member of the Australian Psychological Society and an associate member of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. She is also an accredited counsellor and authorised report writer for the Victims of Crime Bureau.

She holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in Psychology and Clinical Psychology and Diploma of Family Therapy from the Family Therapy Institute of Australia. She has also had training in the Emotional & Behavioural Problems of Childhood, a one-year course conducted by the NSW Institute of Psychiatry. Her master’s thesis was on the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) which assists parents in the management of emotional and behavioural problems in childhood.

Sonia has over 15 years experience working as a psychologist in both community health and private practice. This experience means that she has worked with many children, adolescents, adults and families to help them resolve or manage a wide range of psychological problems such as; depression, anxiety, panic attacks, post-natal issues, grief and loss, suicidal thoughts, trauma, abuse (which includes sexual, psychological, emotional and physical), post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence, stress management, self-esteem, assertiveness and confidence building, eating disorders, relationship difficulties (e.g. communication, resolution of conflict), mediation, separation and divorce, migration issues, child behavioural and emotional problems, difficulties with peers and other school problems. She has also experience in running groups such as Confidence Building and Assertiveness Training, Stress Management, Post-natal issues, Parenting Programs and Social Skills for children.
 

Victoria Sheldon
BHons Clin Psyche(UWC), MClin Psyche(UWC)

Vicki has considerable clinical experience across a wide client population spectrum. Her experience covers both working as a psychologist in a multidisciplinary team, in private practice with individuals and out -patient groups, as well as supervision of Master’s students and teaching duties.

She has broad knowledge and understanding of a range of therapeutic approaches, particularly CBT individual and Group Facilitation Skills and strong assessment and diagnostic skills. She also has good experience in the subsequent treatment of the particular disorders (Depression, GAD Adjustment disorders Panic disorders, Somatoform Disorders PTSD and DSM IV Axis II disorders, some in the context of complex disability.
Over the years in both Institutional and private practice environments she has been involved the practice of a wide range of CBT group and individual treatments/interventions. Some of the areas include - Anxiety and Adjustment disorders, Depression, Social Skills deficits, Marital /relationship problems and Sexual Problems.
 

Anthony Williams
BA, DipEd [MacqU], MAPS

Anthony holds degress in psychology and counselling and has completed further post graduate studies in Narrative Therapy from Macquarie University Extension Program. Anthony is a registered psychologist in NSW and a Member of the Australian Psychological Society. He has also undertaken training in Brief Solution Focussed Therapy, Grief and Loss. Adolescent Suicide Prevention programs, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Meditation.

Anthony has a background in teaching and school counselling spanning 23 years. Additionally he has been in private practice as a counselling psychologist for the past 7 years, focusing on adults in life and relationship crisis, and working with an employee assistance provider counselling employees suffering workplace trauma and related issues. He is now with Sydney Counselling Centre and brings his background of work with individuals and couples in diverse range of areas including relationship and separation issues, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, trauma, abuse and changed in life crises issues. Anthony uses counselling and therapy skills combined predominantly with a Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour approach including stress management, relaxation and meditation training. When appropriate the use of Brief Solution Focussed, emotionally Focussed, and systemic approaches is employed. Anthony is especially interested in working with men experiencing life crisis, change and challenges.
 

Dr. David Luke
BAHons(UQ), MOP(UQ), PhD(MU), MASH, MAPS


David is a registered Psychologist in NSW (PS0053592), a member of the Australian Psychological Society and a member of the Australian Society of Hypnosis. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in applied psychology including counselling, clinical, organisational and physiology. He also holds a PhD in Sleep Disorders from the Medical Faculty of The University of Melbourne. David is currently undergoing advanced training in Clinical Hypnosis.

David has broad experience beginning in 1988 in both clinical and counselling psychology in a variety of institutions and in private practice. This clinical experience includes relationship problems, work place relationship difficulties, depression and anxiety, grief, recovering from trauma, self esteem and confidence, weight management, substance abuse and addiction, stress management and relaxation, pain management, phobias, sleep disorders and shiftwork adjustment.

 

Gabriela Salabert
BA Hons(Psych), MAppPsych, MAPS

Gabriela is a registered Psychologist (NSW Registration No: PS0006851) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

She holds a Master of Applied Psychology and has seventeen years of experience in Australia and overseas working as a Psychologist in both community health and private practice assessing and treating children, adults and families. Garbirela has an extensive experience working with survivors of trauma (organised violence, torture, sexual assault, motor vehicle accidents and accidents at work.) In addition she does psychological assessments for personal injury and migration.

She has successfully facilitated therapeutic group and training for a wide range of issues such as counselling in multicultural society, depression, anxiety, pain and stress management.

Gabriela also speaks Spanish.
 

Dorota Wachala
MClinPsych; BSc(Psych)Hons [UNSW], MAPS

Dorota is a Clinical Psychologist (NSW Registration No. PS0048215) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.

She holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in Psychology and Clinical Psychology and has practiced as a Psychologist for 8 years.

Dorota has had extensive experience working in both public hospital setting and private practice in the provision of clinical psychology assessment and therapy to adults and families presenting with a wide range of psychological problems. She has assisted many individuals to manage their psychological and psychosocial problems including depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, anxiety, eating issues, psychosis, substance abuse, anger, abuse issues, chronic pain, low self-esteem/ confidence and marital and family difficulties.

She has also experience in running groups for a wide range of problems including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and anger management.

 

Wendy Grice
MPsych(Clin), MAPS

Wendy is a registered Psychologist (NSW Registration No: PS 0079194) and holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She has worked extensively in the public sector of health and disability services with both children and adults. Her work has included psychological assessment, design and implementation of treatment plans to meet a range of complex needs. The problems considered have included intellectual disability, severe challenging behaviour, multiple diagnosis and lifestyle issues. The latter have included depression, anxiety, anger and difficulties with relationships.

She is experienced in providing group-based behavioural therapy for substance abuse in people with mental illness. Wendy has a particular interest in the field of successful ageing and the psychological treatment of chronic pain. Her post graduate studies have each focused on these areas of interest.
 

Simon Ashfield-Smith
MPsych (Clin), BA (Hons)Psych, BA, Grad Dip Soc Sc, MAPS

Simon is a Clinical Psychologist who has provided counselling and therapy for over 15 years to adults, couples, families and adolescents. He is registered with the NSW Psychologists Registration Board (PS0086840) and full member of the Australian Psychological Society and with the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.

Simon has graduate and post graduate degrees in Psychology and Clinical Psychology. Simon has also completed post-graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Relationship Counselling, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation and Advanced Dialectical Therapy.

Simon’s past research areas have been in measuring emotional intelligence and emotional regulation. More recently he has lectured at the University of New England in Multivariate Statistics.

Simon has worked in a wide range of mental health services as a Clinical Psychologist. These services have included: Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Services, Community Mental Health (Adult Therapy and Acute Teams), a Psychiatric Hospital, the Better Outcomes for Mental Health Program and The Psychotherapy Centre at the University of New England.

Simon’s interest areas include the treatment of Mood (such as Depression and Bipolar Disorder) and Anxiety Disorders (such as Panic, Social Phobia, Generalised Anxiety, Phobias, and Obsessions and Compulsions), Addictions (Cannabis, Gambling and Computer Gaming), Relationship Counselling, Pain Management, Grief, and Stress & Anger Management.
 

Sue Gynther
BA(Hons) [UQld], MA, DipEd [MonashU], Grad Dip Couns [RMIT], MAPS

Sue is a registered Psychologist (NSW Registration No.PS0034588) and a member of both the Australian Psychological Society and the APS College of Counselling Psychologists.

She holds graduate and postgraduate degrees in Counselling Psychology, Education, and Languages and has more than 18 years experience counselling in secondary school and university settings (working with both staff and students). Sue currently works in private practice.

Her clinical experience includes working with adults and adolescents on a wide variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, grief, self-esteem, assertiveness training, eating disorders, sexual abuse and assault, sexual identity, substance abuse, and mental health issues. She has extensive experience with both individual counselling, couples counselling and groups facilitation.
 

Bill Campos
BSc, MA(Psych)[USyd] MAPS.

Bill is a registered Psychologist (NSW Registration No. PS0049865) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

Bill holds graduate and post graduate degrees in Counselling Psychology and Family Therapy. He also has postgraduate qualifications in Industrial and Organisational Psychology. In addition he has been involved in several research programs and written many articles relating to community welfare, telephone counselling and medicine adherence.

Bill has a strong history in working with family and social issues in the Health, Welfare, Correctional and Educational sectors of the community. His interests include Educational Psychology, Telephone Counselling, Workplace relations and Resilience.

He presently provides specialist services in the areas of family therapy, child and adolescent psychology, child protection matters, multicultural mental health and telephone counselling. He also provides consultative services in the area of Business Psychology and workplace relations.
